A magical New Year’s Eve moment

Just moments ago, after finishing our last concert of the year, we had a really magical and sweet moment that we wanted to share with you, our dear Windborne Family. We wrapped up our last song, said our thank yous, and hit “END STREAM.” Often, when end a concert or walk off stage, the last thing that we want to do is sing some more. This time, however, in the moment of silence after we had disconnected from everyone but the four of us, Will quietly started singing a song well loved by all of us called “The King,” “The Wren,” or “Joy, Health, Love, and Peace.” It’s an old wren day song we all grew up with, but had never arranged for Windborne. All of us joined in, just singing for ourselves, in celebration of our friendship, music, and the shared experience of this past year, where the value and precarity of live harmony singing have been demonstrated so powerfully.

Unbeknownst to the others, Jeremy, our tech operator, quietly hit record on the computer. When it ended, it was already clear that this song will be coming to our repertoire, and everyone wanted to go directly to try to record a recreation. Luckily (and hilariously!) it was already captured. It’s not perfect, and we make some inside jokes about Lauren’s birthday being on 12th Night, but we wanted to share this moment of connection and simply joy and excitement with our Patreon family.

Thank you so much for your belief and support this year, and into the next! Tonight was such a joyful experience of singing out the old year and welcoming in the new with so many of you at Virtual First Night North. We will post the (better quality) videos of those concerts soon, but till then we send you Joy, Health, Love, and Peace, and great joy in The New. ❤️

In harmony and gratitude,

Jeremy, Will, Lauren, and Lynn
