Almost exactly two years ago, we shared a video of our arrangement of John Renbourn’s Traveller’s Prayer with you, our Patreon community (see that post here). We posted that video on our public YouTube channel today in celebration of the full moon in April, which is also called the Pink Moon because its appearance often coincided with the blooming of a wildflower in the northeastern US called moss phlox, or moss pink. Native American tribes across the US also give the April moon names that correspond to the reawakening of nature in springtime–Breaking Ice Moon (Algonquin), Moon When the Ducks Come Back (Lakota), and Budding Moon of Plants and Shrubs (Tlingit) among them (more info about a Pink Moon here).
Now we want to give you the downloadable track of this piece! This is a live recording of our appearance in Christmas Celtic Sojourn 2018, where we got to perform this piece underneath a huge moon backdrop.
As we celebrate nature coming out of hibernation, we’d love to know what signs of spring you look forward to! Share your favorites in the comments!
