It’s Patreon’s official Patron Appreciation Day: #ThankYouPatrons!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of you who have embarked on this Patreon adventure with us! To be totally honest, we had no idea how this would go over when we launched in October… would there be anyone out there who would want to make an ongoing financial contribution to support our work? Is the music we’re making something that would inspire people to join us on this potentially unfamiliar platform? Does anyone actually want to hear the backstory on our stupid inside jokes? And you responded with a resounding YES!
You, our patrons, are an inspiration to us. One of our long-standing goals has been to make more music videos of various kinds, and to record more music more often. In the past, it’s been too easy to push to those things to back burner in service of more urgent deadlines, sometimes out of necessity, but more because those kinds of long-term projects are often the hardest to get done (or even to get started). Having you here with us means that we’re finally prioritizing those things, which bring us a lot of joy, and now we get to share them with you as well! We can say with certainty that we would not have produced two new tracks plus a parody music video and various other blog posts in the past seven weeks if it weren’t for your presence and encouragement.
Another goal has been to take our music to places where people wouldn’t otherwise be able to access it, and to use our music to benefit causes we believe in. Your support enables us to say yes to a school that wants to bring us in for a residency but doesn’t have much of an arts budget, or a community organization that wants to put on a free concert but can’t pay us market rates. In the past, we have had to weigh these gigs against our own real needs to make our own ends meet, and as our Patreon base grows, we hope to integrate more and more of these events into our schedule. This December, we are doing two benefit concerts for community organizations in the Boston area (in Somerville and Arlington if you’re interested!), and you are instrumental in making that happen.
We hope you are enjoying the tracks and videos and posts here on Patreon – know that you are helping us achieve our goals in so many ways. Thank you again for your support!!
